Could this be Huawei's newest flagship killer?
Let me share you the specs of the new Huawei Nova 5T.
DESIGN
It has a 6.36-inch Full HD+ HUAWEI Punch Full view Display. It's ultra-light, ultra-slim, and has a glass body with a fashionable iridescent shine that makes this phone looks premium. It is available in three colors - Crush Blue, Black, and my favorite Midsummer Purple.
On the left, you'll see the SIM tray that can house 2 nano sims at the same time. On the right, we have the volume rocker and power button which also serves as the fingerprint scanner. This is something new to me and it takes some time to get used to. The only problem with this button is that it's wobbly and the surface is rough.
You'll see the speaker, main microphone, and USB Type C port at the bottom. Unfortunately, there is no audio port. You'll have to use an adaptor to use the headset but don't worry, it's included inside the box.
DISPLAY
This could be the brightest screen among the HUAWEI phones I've reviewed in the past. The hole punch is not that distracting for me because I've seen this in the new Samsung phones. The screen is wide enough to enjoy watching my favorite series on Netflix and YouTube. Audio is pretty good too.
OS AND PROCESSOR
It runs in Kirin 980 Dual NPU Chipset and Android 9 Pie. The same hardware that powers the Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro. It has an 8GB RAM and 128 ROM so you get to enjoy more movies, games, and surfing smoothly.
BATTERY
The HUAWEI Nova 5T has a 3,750mAh battery and capable of fast charging. It allows you to get from 0% to 50% in just 28 minutes of charge time.
CAMERAS
Now let's talk about its five AI cameras. It has 48MP main camera, 16MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP dedicated Macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor. And then there's a 32MP front-facing camera. It can capture sharp and high-quality photos with delicate details. It is also capable of stunning night shots and 4cm close shots with its macro lens.
Unfortunately, I lost the photos I took using the "light trails" mode. But I highly recommend it!
PRICE
The HUAWEI Nova 5T is available at P18,990 in the Philippines. You can purchase it in any HUAWEI store or 8telcom Mobile Solutions store nationwide.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I love the design and how thin it is. It may be too fragile for me because of its glass design but I love its grip in my hands. Two thumbs up for its rear cameras but not so for its front camera. The night mode and light trail mode are highly recommended. If you're looking for a smartphone with good performance, premium design, and good rear cameras, you should consider this.
